Environment Specific Courses - Tropical Forest, Desert, Savannah and Mountain Courses suitable for Leaders or outdoor instructors with plans or aspirations to lead expeditions in these environments, Leaders with past tropical experience who want to benchmark current best practice, Teachers going on expeditions who want to feel informed and confident in these environments and researchers or adventure travellers planning to travel to these areas. The courses cover health and safety; the practical essentials to ensure an enjoyable and safe expedition; how to live and lead in these areas: the finer points of living and camping together with some considerations on planning trips and leading groups. Courses are run in the Oxford area and can also be run in-house for your group if needed. Safety Planning and Leadership These courses are suitable for anyone wanting to plan their own fieldwork or expedition. Also for any team member who wants a better understanding of the practical and safety implications of fieldwork, particularly in remote, overseas locations. Courses focus on risk assessment and crisis management planning and emphasise real scenarios and applying planning to changing situations. Kit provision, soft skills and leadership are also covered. Courses are run in the Oxford area, and are also popular as bespoke options for universities (2-hour seminars to 2-day courses). Please have a look at the website for details of course dates, and to see the other courses we run such as our First Aid for Fieldwork and Expeditions. www.fieldskills.com.
